Example of the Berlin Wall in an area of Berlin where I worked as an LDS missionary. The
graffiti on the wall reads, "How much longer?" The "KZ, DDR"
promoted the idea that the communists of East Germany (the Deutsche Demokratische
Republik or DDR), had turned their country into a concentration camp by
putting up a masonry wall and barbed wire fence along the country's borders. The white sign
on the left warns that "YOU
ARE LEAVING THE AMERICAN SECTOR" of West Berlin.
