Example of the Berlin Wall in an area of Berlin where I worked as an LDS missionary. The graffiti on the wall reads, "How much longer?" The "KZ, DDR" promoted the idea that the communists of East Germany (the Deutsche Demokratische Republik or DDR), had turned their country into a concentration camp by putting up a masonry wall and barbed wire fence along the country's borders. The white sign on the left warns that "YOU ARE LEAVING THE AMERICAN SECTOR" of West Berlin.
